Boston Standard Plumbing Is A Certified Nest Thermostat Installer
Next-generation Nest Thermostats offer new ways to save on heating and cooling

DORCHESTER, MA, January 31, 2012 /24-7PressRelease/ -- Boston Standard Plumbing is now a certified installer of the next-generation Nest Thermostat, which can learn a homeowner's heating and cooling preferences within a week of installation and can also receive programming directions from a smartphone.. Former Apple architect Tony Fadell, designed the next-generation Nest Thermostat, and his company is accepting orders from installers for the new thermostat.

"The Nest thermostat represents a real evolution of the programmable thermostat," says Joseph Wood, owner of Boston Standard Plumbing and Heating in Boston, MA. "Unlike other programmable thermostats that operate on a homeowner's "typical" needs, this thermostat takes into account the actual heating and cooling usage of the household. The fact that you can communicate with it while you're out gives people exceptional control over their utility costs."

Wood says that he knew immediately that he wanted Boston Standard Plumbing & Heating to become a certified Nest installer. "These thermostats work with a wide range of heating and cooling systems," says Wood. "They're ideal for an area like Boston, where temperatures can range significantly during the day and from day to day." Wood says he has purchased a Nest thermostat for his own home and is looking forward to seeing the difference this device can make.

"Most programmable thermostats aim to support a homeowner's typical needs. Today, fewer people have routines that are predictable enough to benefit from the limited programming options most thermostats offer," says Wood. "With a smartphone, a homeowner can control the temperature in the home and take advantage of technology to accommodate delayed or early returns, or an unexpected day off without changing the basic programming of the thermostat."

According to the Nest website, homeowners can expect to save about $175 per year by allowing the Nest thermostat to monitor and maintain a home's internal temperature. "Most consumers want technologies to save them money, reduce their fuel consumption and make their homes more comfortable," says Wood. "We think the Nest thermostat represents the first application of technology that can do that meaningfully."
